Maindee Criw Cymraeg is made up of pupils from years 2 to 6 who are enthusiastic about promoting Welsh in our school. They help other pupils to understand and use Welsh throughout the day.
The pupils in Criw Cymraeg are responsible for:
- Contributing to school assemblies
- Encouraging and showing other pupils how to play Welsh games on the yard at break times
- Teaching the Welsh ‘Ymadrodd yr wythnos’ (phrase of the week)
- Promoting Welsh throughout their classes and school
Criw Cymraeg meet every Tuesday lunchtime and are currently working towards achieving a bronze award in a language charter ‘Cymraeg Campus’ which promotes and increases the use of Welsh. The award involves participation from all pupils, staff members and governors.
